Drone insurance in general covers loss, damage or theft caused to the drone. It also includes coverage of the drone’s payload, for attached equipment, or any third party liabilities due to any damage caused by the drone to the counterparty. The DGCA guidelines offer coverage beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS).
Features offered by drone insurance are namely:
HULL COVER: The insurance covers theft, loss or any kind of damage to the drone. However, this excludes devaluation of drones over time.
EQUIPMENT COVER: This offers coverage for spare parts damaged during operation of the drone.
PAYLOAD COVER: This covers accidental damage caused to the equipment during operation.
THIRD PARTY LIABILITY: It covers every kind of damage caused by the drone, for instance a body injury, any damage to the property of counterparty or any consequential loss aroused during drone operation.
PERSONAL ACCIDENT & MEDICAL INSURANCE COVER: Personal accident scheme covers physical injuries caused during drone operation while Medical insurance covers any hospitalisation caused due to the same. Both the schemes are applicable only for authorised drone operators.
NIGHT FLYING COVER: This is an add-on cover which permits the drone operator to fly his drone even at night without worrying about any sort of damage caused to or by the drone.
ANNUAL COVER: As the name suggests, the annual cover.
