The three most important requirements to become a drone pilot are as follows:
- Although it is not necessary to be a graduate, it is compulsory for a candidate applying for drone training to be a 12th standard passout.
- To become a professional drone pilot, one needs to get certified from a DGCA approved training institute.
- Candidates will have to clear a medical examination as per DGCA specification.
- The age limit to become a certified drone pilot is limited to 65 years.
Some renowned drone training institutes are:
- Flytech Aviation Academy, Hyderabad
- Alliance University, Bengaluru
- Fore Institute of Drone Technology and Research (FIDTR), Gurugram
- Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akedemi, Amethi
There are a lot more training schools apart from the ones mentioned, but these aren’t enough for the millions of candidates applying. The reason behind drone pilot training being costly, is because there are less number of training institutes as compared to the number of candidates applying for the course. Pilot training fees can definitely go down if there are enough training schools all round the country.
An initiative has been taken regarding this issue, by Chirag Sharma, the CEO of “Drone Destination”. The goal of this Delhi based company is to establish at least 150 drone pilot training schools across the country, by 2025.
